Life Story

I was born in Michigan and grew up in a Christian home with my parents and two brothers. As early as I can remember, I was attending church and all its activities. I don’t remember a specific date or age, but I do know that the Lord captured my heart young. I confessed, believed and knew in my heart that Jesus was my Lord and Savior. During this time I gained a healthy understanding of the Bible and Jesus. Week in and week out I went to services and student activities, and they became routine.

In the middle of my 8th grade year, my family moved to Texas. In Michigan I was involved in almost every sport, church and school activity available to me. Needless to say, my perfect teenage world was crushed. I didn’t understand why I had to uproot from everything that was comfortable. I had a bitter and angry heart toward my parents and God.

After trying out a few churches in the area, my family and I started attending The Village. I was still bitter, angry and building up walls to anything new. My brothers and I started attending youth group, and the Lord used this time to tear down those walls. I was stepping away from “do all these things, be a good person, don’t do this, don’t do that” and entering into a true life-giving relationship with the Lord.

Looking back I see the Lord’s hand in all of it. My bitter heart started softening to what the Lord was leading me through. He blessed me with faithful mentors who were godly examples of what living out the gospel looked like. I now have a community of believers who walk with me and show me what grace and love the Lord has for me and I couldn’t be more thankful.

Hope for The Village Church

My hope for The Village is that we would be a body of people who boldly and joyfully live and proclaim the gospel. I pray that generations would love Jesus, glorifying Him in all that they do.
