Life Story
I was raised in the church, but for many years, my life did not reflect a relationship with Jesus. The Bible stories I learned had little impact, and my formative years were marked by rebellion and alcohol abuse. At 19, I discovered I was pregnant. After paying for an abortion and seeing the baby on the ultrasound, I realized I couldn’t go through with it. That moment changed everything, and I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior for the first time. The next three years were incredibly difficult as a single mom working two jobs, but I graduated college with honors.
Though I wish I could say my life was fully devoted to God’s kingdom from then on, that’s not my story. Over the next 20 years, I faced the suicide of my only sibling, more alcohol abuse, divorce, betrayal, and many other painful experiences. I realized I was once again using alcohol to cope. I sought treatment and truly committed my life to the Lord, joining a 12-step community and developing a real relationship with Him.
For the first time, His Word came alive to me. I searched the Scriptures and experienced the joy of truly following Him. The past eight years have been the most fulfilling of my life. Despite challenges, He has been my faithful Protector, Provider, and good Father. His Word revealed my true identity—not in titles or professions, but as His child. Awakened to my identity in Christ, I now walk in boldness, carrying out God’s plan to further His kingdom.
Hope for The Village Church
I hope people feel the love of Christ every time they walk into The Village. That no matter where they come from, or what kind of past they have, they feel valued. That we boldly share the truth of the gospel and are a welcoming community to the lost.
