Belonging to a local church is a joy for the believer, a decision to be made with celebration. We want to help you figure out if The Village Church is the place you want to belong.

Want to Become a Member of the Village Church?

We’re excited to have you consider The Village Church as the place you want to belong. Our Membership Class is the place to go to hear about what we believe God is up to in the world, what He is doing at The Village Church, and it also provides us an opportunity to get to know you and your story. In this class, you will learn about the story of The Village Church, and share your own salvation story. In the first session, we’ll cover The Village culture and what’s currently happening, how to get involved in our various ministries, and have a time for Q&A. In the second session, you’ll meet other people at your table and have the opportunity to briefly share your story. After the class, you will be contacted by The Village to affirm your membership or to provide the necessary next steps toward membership.

What to Expect with Membership

At The Village Church, we believe that church membership is a vital and joyous expression of our union with Christ and His body. It is the embodied, committed, and local outworking of our universal identity in Christ. Membership signals our joyful commitment to a people, a place, and a common purpose.
16 years old is the minimum age for membership at TVC.
There are four parts to becoming a member at TVC:
  • Part 1: Complete the online on-demand Membership 101 course, where we go over our church’s doctrines and distinctives, and you complete a spiritual gifts assessment to help you and us identify volunteer opportunities that you are well suited for.
  • Part 2: Complete the online, on-demand Membership 102 pre-work, where you answer a set of questions about your personal theological beliefs and share your written testimony of salvation.
  • Part 3: Attend the in-person Membership Class where we will do a deeper dive into what it means to be a thriving member of TVC around round tables with other prospective members.
  • Part 4: Sign the Membership Expectations agreement.
This pre-work is in place to provide you with essential information about The Village Church to help inform your decision to join our church as a member, and provides our church’s leadership essential information about you as we prepare to affirm you for membership. Both Membership 101 and 102 must be completed prior to you attending the in-person Membership Class.
Each person must complete their own pre-work on their own TVC profile to be eligible to attend the Membership Class.
The precedent we find in the New Testament and that we practice at TVC is baptism following conversion by immersion into water, which is meant to symbolically depict the believer’s real union to Christ in His death and resurrection. If you have not been baptized since salvation, it is a required step for membership. We offer an online, on-demand Baptism class to prepare you.
You are able to participate in the life of the church without becoming a member! We do not require membership for participating in any of our ministry programs, only for obtaining certain volunteer positions.
No, there are many places to serve that do not require membership! Click this link to discover the volunteer opportunities that do not require membership.
TVC neither accepts transfer of membership from other churches, nor do we transfer members to other churches. We will, however, verify your membership with TVC, should your new church require it. Simply reach out to the Connections ministry to receive that verification.
If the Lord calls you to a new church home, please let us know by reaching out to the Connections ministry. We will send you an off-boarding email with optional next steps. If you are moving, we might also be able to recommend a church near your new home!

Baptism

Baptism is intended only for those who have professed faith in Jesus Christ and can give sufficient testimony to the basics of Christian beliefs. We baptize by immersion because it is not only the original significance of the word but also best symbolizes the reality to which baptism points—our death and resurrection in Christ.

If you have not been baptized following salvation, we ask you to take this step before becoming a member. To help prepare you, we offer a Baptism Class. The class covers the biblical significance of baptism, frequently asked questions, and gives you an opportunity to share your testimony.
