Life Story

I was blessed to be born into a home with a mother and father who loved the Lord. My mom and dad took seriously the calling to train their children in the way they should go. My earliest memories include times of family prayer and devotion and worshiping together at church. I remember evening prayers in my house, kneeling with my parents and sister and hearing my dad call out to the Lord on behalf of his family. It was in this environment that the Lord saved me at a young age.

Admittedly, the years separating that day and today were filled with misstep after misstep—a rebellious heart compounded by legalism and self-righteousness. But I have no doubt that the Lord saved me and set me apart back then. Even in my rebellion, the Lord was not far from me, and His Spirit was sure to convict and lead me to repentance.

In college I was exposed to preaching and writing that encouraged me to love the Lord with my mind for the first time. The Holy Spirit gave me clarity to see the self-righteousness that had marked my youth. God granted me a fresh revelation of His saving and sustaining grace.

It was also in college where I met my beautiful wife, Elyse. She is a constant embodiment of the Lord's grace in my life. We moved to Dallas in 2011 and have been part of the The Village ever since.

Hope for The Village Church

My hope for The Village is that we would be a people marked by a love for Jesus Christ, for God's Word and for one another. My prayer is that we would be driven to make Jesus Christ our ultimate treasure, spreading the good news of His kingdom across the street, throughout DFW and to the ends of the earth.
