Life Story

The Lord blessed me with parents who knew the Lord and were faithful in their walks with Christ. Despite a somewhat legalistic church background, our home reflected love and grace, and in this environment, I came to know Christ in grade school. It was in college at Cedarville University that my relationship with Christ became much more of a daily walk. There, through solid teaching and men and women who modeled more than a works-based lifestyle, I began to see the Lord as a loving Father. He began to foster in me a healthy love for Him and a desire to serve Him in the business environment.

For almost 25 years, it was in business that I found joy, and I thought that would be my lifelong ministry. The one place I was sure I would never be employed was the church. Through a few years of conversations, prayer and wrestling with the Lord, He made it clear that coming on staff at The Village was what He was calling me to, and my employment began here in 2011.

My wife, Kimberly, and I met in college and were married in 1982. We have two adult children, Scott and Sarah. Scott lives in Houston with his bride, Katie, and our granddaughter, Aubrey. Sarah is married to Mark Hershey, and they also have a daughter named Norah. We are so blessed to know that both of our kids have spouses who know and love the Lord and that they are raising our beautiful granddaughters in homes where the Lord is glorified.

I have way too many hobbies, but a few of them include motorcycling, running, cycling, swimming and most anything that includes our kids and especially our grandkids.

Hope for The Village Church

My hope for The Village is that we would continue to be a place that would woo people to a deeper relationship with the Lord. In this, I pray that we would not only speak the truth of the gospel, but would also model our mission statement as we seek to make much of Christ in love and grace.
