Life Story

Raised in church, I attended service on Sundays, but I did not want anything to do with it. Instead, I wanted the false promises offered by the world. I obtained all the things I believed would make me happy—success, money and status—but I was not happy.

Having allowed me to pursue my broken plans, the Lord began His work of redemption in my life. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ” (Eph. 2:4-5).

The Lord began this work by bringing my wife, Annie, into my life. Annie was not saved either, but she regularly attended church, so I started attending with her. One Sunday, a pastor at the church had a simple message: read your Bible every day, and God will use it to change your life.

My life needed to change, so I decided to give it a try. Once I started, I could not stop. I read every day. I was shocked. The Christian faith was an invitation to salvation, peace and great joy. It was not an invitation to a list of rules, guilt and eternity in hell, despite my best efforts to be “good.”

Through the reading of His Word and the work of His Spirit, the Lord saved me to eternal life. In His grace, the Lord also saved Annie. He called two broken sinners “out of darkness into His marvelous light” (1 Pet. 2:9). And He who began this good work in us continues to transform us into His image “from one degree of glory to another” (2 Cor. 3:18).

Hope for The Village Church

My hope for The Village is that we would be serious about growing and changing in the faith, regularly spend time with the Lord in His Word and in prayer, strive to put sin to death and pursue and serve the lost, widows and orphans.
