Ruth was born and raised in Conway, Arkansas. Early in life, the Lord showed Ruth His heart for the nations and gave her a passion to see the lost come to know Him in Africa. Ruth became a registered nurse and went on a short-term mission trip with The Village to Ethiopia. Feeling the Lord’s call on her life, Ruth earned her master's degree in nursing so she could practice medicine overseas.
Through SIM, Ruth serves as a family nurse practitioner in a clinic in Doro, South Sudan. She helps to meet the physical needs of the people while also sharing the love and compassion of Jesus Christ.
About South Sudan
In July 2011, South Sudan became the world’s newest country and has faced many difficulties since becoming a nation. After decades of civil war with Sudan, many areas are severely underdeveloped and poverty is widespread. The needs are vast but so are the opportunities. Doro traditionally has been home to the Mabaan people but has transformed into a refugee camp for 120,000 people from Sudan over the past few years.
