Worship Ministry

Our goal is to be worshipers and to effectively lead others into the presence of God where they can respond appropriately to His greatness and glory, be intimately touched by his nearness, and be powerfully changed into His likeness.

What is Worship?

Worship is our response – both personal and corporate – to God for Who He is and what He has done, expressed in and by the things we say and the way we live.

"But Jesus Himself would often slip away to the wilderness and pray." Luke 5:16

"With my mouth I will give thanks abundantly to the Lord; And in the midst of many I will praise Him." Psalm 109:30

Biblical forms of worship should be sought out and lived out. In everyday life these postures of worship should be used when we recognize His goodness, feel the worth of it and ascribe to Him praise.

Biblical Forms of Worship:

StandingThey will stand in awe of the God of Israel. Isaiah 29:23.

SingingI will be glad and exalt in You; I will sing praise to Your name, 0 Most High. Psalm 9:2.

ShoutingMy lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to You; and my soul, which You have redeemed. Psalm 71:23.

SittingThen David the king went in and sat before the Lord, and he said, "Who am I, 0 Lord God..." 2 Samuel 7:18.

ClappingO clap your hands, all peoples; shout to God with the voice of joy. Psalm 47:1.

BowingMoses made haste to bow low toward the earth and worship. Exodus 34:8.

PrayingIn the morning, 0 Lord, You will hear my voice; In the morning I will order my prayer to You and eagerly watch. Psalm 5:3.

Laying ProstrateAnd Jesus went a little beyond them, and fell on His face and prayed... Matthew 26: 39.

DancingLet them praise His name with dancing. Psalm 149:3

Our generation has moved from worshiping in truth to mostly worshiping with outward actions. Our worship to God corporately and personally must have a heart and a head – worshippers who worship in spirit and truth. We must heed the warning we get from Malachi 1:10 “Oh that there were one among you who would shut the gates, that you might not light useless fires on my altar!" A modern translation might read, “I wish you would put your hands down, get off your knees, shut your mouths and think about what you're telling Me or asking of Me."

Oh that God would be glorified both with our minds and our hearts. Oh that we could be a church who love deeply sound doctrine and who are equally deeply emotional.
