I accepted Christ at the age of 6 at a small Baptist church in Iowa. I spent the next 45 years drawing near to the Lord at times, but most often running in the opposite direction as I pursued my own agenda. When I would feel the Lord pulling me back, I would attend church and get involved, but I still found myself resisting giving the Lord primacy in my life. I achieved some level of success in business which, in my pride, I primarily attributed to my own efforts. Rarely did I give credit to God for the blessings in my life.
In 2007, I felt the Lord speaking into my life and realized that I had been trying to live on my own terms for all those years. He seemed to be telling me it was His turn and, at that point, I decided to recommit my life to Christ.
Jan and I have been married for 19 years and moved to Flower Mound in 2008. We quickly settled into The Village as our new church home. We have served as Home Group leaders and currently serve as Home Group coaches. We are active in the area of missions, and I am chairman of the board for His Voice Global, where I also serve as director of Theological Training. We have four grown children.
Hope for The Village Church
My hope is that The Village will continue to be a place where the truth of the gospel is taught and lived. I pray that we would walk in faithful obedience to the Lord in His command to go and make disciples, both locally and to the ends of the earth.
