I grew up in a small town outside of Santa Barbara, Calif. My brother Mike and I were raised in a loving, Christian home, but it wasn't until high school that I felt the weight of my sin in light of the Cross. In June 1982, while on a travel camp in Zion National Park, I placed my faith in Christ. For the next several years, I participated in just about every Christian activity offered. During this time my passion in life changed to ministry. There was nothing else I wanted to do in life, but to share the hope of Christ with others and walk with them as they became fully devoted followers of Christ. So by the time I was off to play golf at Pepperdine University, I knew full-time ministry was in my future. During my college life, I attended Campus Crusade and lived in community with a great group of Christian brothers from the basketball team. I met my wife, Caprice, in Spanish class, and we married in 1993. After graduation and a brief golf excursion to Europe, I moved to the beautiful land of Dallas, Texas, to attend Dallas Theological Seminary. While in seminary, I came on staff with College Golf Fellowship. We work with college and professional golfers to expose, invest and equip them to be faithful followers of Christ.
We came to The Village in 2006 with the sole purpose of establishing deeps roots with people in our community. We love and trust this place, and there is great joy being a part of a church that has a heart to reach every nation as well as the family next door.
Caprice and I have four wonderfully, energetic children. Darrin is our oldest at nine and has been given the challenge to live in the fog of Autism. What he teaches us daily about simplicity and God's shear goodness is amazing. Abby is next in line at age 6 and she came to us through adoption as well as Darrin. God granted us two more girls biologically, Kailey and Holly.
Hope for The Village Church
My hope for The Village is simple: May we glorify God in all we do and may we bring this community that God has entrusted to us to become faithful followers of Him and Him alone.
